SPIN Labs Artist Project – Oskar McCarthy

SPIN is pleased to share details from Oskar McCarthy’s SPIN Labs Artist Project.

Grounded in research on how disinformation affects an individual’s sense of truth, the piece charted the transition of a mind rooted in reality to one unmoored from it. At a time when the lethal effects of disinformation were painfully clear in the UK and abroad, it served as an urgent wake-up call to all those who might think themselves immune.

The work was commissioned by Oskar McCarthy with support from SPIN Labs, the Michael Cuddigan Trust, The Finzi Trust, Hinrichsen Foundation, and Vaughan Williams Foundation.

It was performed as part of VOICEBOX: UNBOUND, a showcase of brand-new work featuring performances by Patricia Auchterlonie, Hestor Dart, Sarah Parkin, t l k, and Pascal Zurek. The event marked the culmination of the year-long VOICEBOX project, led by Juliet Fraser, for advanced singers specialising in contemporary vocal performance.
