The Martin Parr Foundation in collaboration with SPIN and the University of Bristol announce a new photography commission.

What does secrecy ‘look’ like? How do confessions matter to society? How does ignorance shape our daily lives and our politics? How should we respond to the rise of ‘fakes’ and ‘fakery’ in the world? Why are conspiracy theories so compelling? Using these questions and themes as a provocation and not a limitation, we want to hear your ideas for creating a series of photographic images and/or photographic-based collage or screen-print to explore secrecy and/or ignorance and how they shape our ideas, selves, communities and/or our world.
Fee: £1000, plus an additional £250 to cover travel expenses to Bristol to visit with MPF/SPIN
Outcome: 4-6 photographic images by July 2024.

The work produced through the commission will be showcased via the MPF Instagram, on the SPIN website/socials, through the publication of a limited run of postcards through the MPF, and as part SPIN speaker series and/or podcast series.
Eligibility: We are particularly keen to hear from new and emerging photographers from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in British photography.
