Verification in the Age of Google

Henrietta Wilson, SOAS University of London

My research is centered around recent developments in open source investigative research, including the rise of non-governmental monitoring using digital technologies, and the possibilities and challenges of using open source techniques to track weapons worldwide. My work raises questions about the porous boundaries between ‘open’ and ‘closed’ (secret) sources, and the conditions in which increased transparency supports global efforts to strengthen human security.
